Hey, you got any book recs?

I don’t know about you but I’ve been reading a lot more often lately. It's my time to relax, unwind, and enjoy some time to myself during this craziness. Reading has been known to not only increase knowledge, but also help ease tension and create a sense of mindfulness given the requirement to be present while reading. Not everyone has the same taste in genre, however here are some of the most popular health & wellness / self-help /empowering books on the market! Of course I added my favorite cookbook as well.

BIG TIP: If you have a public library card and a method of reading on a device such as a phone, tablet, or Kindle, I discovered the most amazing thing, Libby ; you can “check out” ebooks and/or audiobooks from the library and have them sent to your device from the app! Great for the kids and adults!

Top Self- Help Books according to Matt Morris, best selling author.

Synopsis from Amazon.

1. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

“Paulo Coelho's masterpiece tells the magical story of Santiago, an Andalusian shepherd boy who yearns to travel in search of a worldly treasure as extravagant as any ever found.

The story of the treasures Santiago finds along the way teaches us, as only a few stories can, about the essential wisdom of listening to our hearts, learning to read the omens strewn along life's path, and, above all, following our dreams.”

2. The Four Agreements by don Miguel Ruiz

“In The Four Agreements, bestselling author don Miguel Ruiz reveals the source of self-limiting beliefs that rob us of joy and create needless suffering. Based on ancient Toltec wisdom, The Four Agreements offer a powerful code of conduct that can rapidly transform our lives to a new experience of freedom, true happiness, and love.”

3. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey

“In The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, author Stephen R. Covey presents a holistic, integrated, principle-centered approach for solving personal and professional problems. With penetrating insights and pointed anecdotes, Covey reveals a step-by-step pathway for living with fairness, integrity, service, and human dignity--principles that give us the security to adapt to change and the wisdom and power to take advantage of the opportunities that change creates."

Top sellers from Amazon:

1. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life by Mark Manson

“Manson makes the argument, backed both by academic research and well-timed poop jokes, that improving our lives hinges not on our ability to turn lemons into lemonade, but on learning to stomach lemons better. Human beings are flawed and limited—"not everybody can be extraordinary, there are winners and losers in society, and some of it is not fair or your fault." Manson advises us to get to know our limitations and accept them. Once we embrace our fears, faults, and uncertainties, once we stop running and avoiding and start confronting painful truths, we can begin to find the courage, perseverance, honesty, responsibility, curiosity, and forgiveness we seek.”

2. Grit by Angela Duckworth

“Duckworth’s ideas about the cultivation of tenacity have clearly changed some lives for the better” (The New York Times Book Review). Among Grit’s most valuable insights: any effort you make ultimately counts twice toward your goal; grit can be learned, regardless of IQ or circumstances; when it comes to child-rearing, neither a warm embrace nor high standards will work by themselves; how to trigger lifelong interest; the magic of the Hard Thing Rule; and so much more. Winningly personal, insightful, and even life-changing, Grit is a book about what goes through your head when you fall down, and how that—not talent or luck—makes all the difference. This is “a fascinating tour of the psychological research on success” (The Wall Street Journal).

Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat: Mastering the Elements of Good Cooking

“Echoing Samin’s own journey from culinary novice to award-winning chef, Salt, Fat Acid, Heatimmediately bridges the gap between home and professional kitchens. With charming narrative, illustrated walkthroughs, and a lighthearted approach to kitchen science, Samin demystifies the four elements of good cooking for everyone. “
